Ministry of Language, Culture and Heritage was founded by the government of Maldives on 17 November 2023. This ministry was run under name of Ministry of Culture which was founded on 21 January 2014.
Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s governing strategy heavily emphasizes reviving the national spirit and recalibrating the diminishing social values. Consequently, he amended the name of the ministry and revised its mandate to prioritize fulfilling his vision for national identity and culture.
Structural changes were implemented to meet with these envisioned goals, centralizing various authorities under the umbrella of this ministry, including, The National Research Centre, National Heritage College (Dhivehi Gaumiyyathuge Isvaru), National Printing Laboratory, Dhivehi Bahuge Academy, and the National Institute for Heritage.
