Madlives is a country that has been independent and saving its independence for over 4000 years. The earliest recorded invasion dates back to 12th century ( 1117 AD ), during the times of Raja Raja Cholan The Great. Maldives was liberated by then King Theemuge Mahaa Kalaminja. During the 16th century when India was under the political influence of Portuguese, Maldives was again attacked by the Portuguese forces killing the King Ali the VI. Portuguese forces ruthlessly ruled by force for 15 years, until the heroic liberator amongst the Maldivians, Al-Sultanul Ghaazee Muhammad Thakurufaanul Auzam Siri Savaadheehtha Mahaaradhun, saved the nation from the tyranny.

During the regime of Malabar power in India, there was once a coup in Maldives which drew the Malabar power to attempt a takeover. Several places of the capital Male was set ablaze, and severe damage was done to households and Royal Residences and areas. However, after 4 months into the aggression, Al-Sultan Al-Ghazi Hassan Izzuddhin Siri Kularan Meeba Katthiri Bavana Mahaaradhun, liberated the country from the aggression in 1166 AD.

In 1887, the Maldives fell under British colonization until Vazeer Al Auzam Sumuvvul Ameer Ibrahim Nasir Dhoshimeyna Kilegefaan declared the sovereign state by establishing the Republic System.

The most recent attack in Maldives was in 1988, during Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom’s regime, a coup attempt led to the loss of 19 Maldivian lives, including 17-year-old Shaheed Hussain Adam, who is remembered as a national hero for his bravery.
